Field Rules, Info, and Requirements
Introduction:
SOG (Special Operations Group) started forming in the fall of 2007. The original founding members used to play with another team, but they were looking for something more. The goal was to get together a team that would focus on safety, organization, and skill. They hand-picked members who met the qualifications they were looking for, set up and organized team standards, and from then on, SOG began to grow. When thinking up the name, someone suggested "SOG" after an idea they had when mentioning SOG Knives. After researching the name to see if anyone already had it, it was learned that SOG was actually a secret special forces group in Vietnam (MACV-SOG). The name fit the image we were looking for, so it stuck. We now have 30+ active players on the team, including walk-ons and guests we invite on a regular basis. We are a very diverse group with backrounds including former, current, and future military members and law enforcement members. The majority of our members are 21 years of age or older. SOG strives to be a positive force in airsoft, promoting honesty, integrity, safety, friendship, and introducing + helping new players in the sport as much as possible. We consider ourselves to be a borderline milsim team, normally utilizing military tactics during our games and training sessions.
Home Field
Our home field is about 130+ acres, located north of Baltimore County, in the Sparks Glencoe/Hunt Valley MD Area.
Our field is INVITE ONLY, so we require all new players to write an new post and introduce themselves to the team (See "Welcome, New Players!" thread) before they come out. Once we get to know you, we will invite you to the field and include the directions via PM. If you wish to bring additional players to the field, please tell us ahead of time. Keep in mind that you will be responsible for any guests you bring out. We ask that you do not openly invite players to our field without our consent! If you are a new player who shows up without any team members knowledge, you may be asked to leave. The field is private property, which means NO TRESSPASSING.
Regular Sunday Games:
We play EVERY Sunday, year round, in ANY weather! We generally get to the field around 9am, load up and gear up, and then start games around 10am. At around 12:30-1:00pm, we normally break for lunch. If it is your very first time to the field, lunch is free. Any time you come to the field thereafter, we ask that all players eating lunch bring $5 for the cost of food. Normal gaming schedule runs from 10am-7pm in the Spring/Summer, and 10am-5pm in the Fall/Winter. We run a variety of games which take place on certain portions of the field, and sometimes the ENTIRE field. Each game type will have times that vary in between 30 minutes, all the way up to 2 hours or more. We understand some people may not be able to stay the entire day, and thats fine. We just want everyone to come out and have a good time during their stay! If you have any medical conditions or any situations we need to be made aware of, please let us know.
General Field Rules and Requirements:
1) CALL YOUR HITS! We expect honesty from every player that sets foot on our field. This game is based on the honor system, so if you're caught blatently cheating, you will be asked to leave. We do not want anyone ruining someone else's good time because they cant play fair. Generally, one hit to your person or gear (gun excluded) qualifies as a kill unless otherwise stated.
2) ALL PLAYERS WILL HAVE A FORM OF HYDRATION ON THEIR PERSON! Whether it be a hydration pack, canteen, or a bottle of water in your pocket, we require EVERYONE who is playing to have water with them at all times. Even in the colder months, its still very important to hydrate when you're running around our field.
3) ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR ANKLE SUPPORTING BOOTS! We do not allow tennis shoes, cleats, running shoes, etc. If you show up in anything other than an ankle-supporting boot, you will not be permitted to play on our field. The terrain is full of hills, ditches, and steep trails where it is very easy to twist your ankle. We prefer that it be as close to a military-style boot as possible.
4) ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE EYE PROTECTION! That means ANSI Z87+ Rated (For impacts 500+ fps) Full-Seal Goggles, or a Full Face Mask. The only time you are permitted to take off your eye protection is at the tent area.
NOTE: All players under the age of 18 must wear a Full Face Mask with sealed goggles. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE!
5) ALL PLAYERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN! We do not allow parents to drop their children off with us. We apologize for the inconvienience, but it is a liability issue. Any player under the age of 18 must have their parent or guardian at the field for the entire duration of their stay.
6) ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE A RED "KILL" RAG! Once you are hit, yell "HIT!" as loud as you can, put your hand/gun in the air, pull out your red rag, and place it in plain view on your head. After you are hit, we ask that you walk off the middle of the field and off to the side, away from the action. You are permitted to watch the rest of the game, but we ask that you stay quiet and do not discharge your weapon while the game is still in session because it disturbs the other players still in the game.
7) ALL PLAYERS SHOULD HAVE A FRS RADIO! Motorola, Midland, Cobra, etc...we ask that players bring a radio to the field to keep in contact with everyone. Our field is very large, so we dont want anyone to get lost or have a medical emergency and be out of contact with everyone.
8) ALL GUESTS/WALK ON PLAYERS ARE ASKED TO WEAR THE "NATO WOODLAND" UNIFORM! Our team normally uses the Tiger Stripe, Multicam, And DCU (Tri-Color Desert) uniform, so we ask all other players to wear NATO Woodland or something different. This is so we know who our walk-on players are, and we can group people accordingly. If you have a question about the uniform, please ask us before you come out.
9) OUR FPS LIMITS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
-Max spring for any full-auto AEG: M130.
-AEG FPS: 420 w/ .20gram BBs (10-foot bang out rule)
-Sniper Rifle (Single ONLY or Bolt Action): 600fps w/ .20gram BBs (100ft minimum engagement distance, 10-foot bang out rule, under 100ft use sidearm or back up AEG)
Most of our players use AEGs that shoot 280fps or higher with .20gram BBs, so if your AEG shoots under that, you might be a little out-gunned. Just something to consider before you come out.
10) PYRO MUST BE APPROVED BY COMMAND PRIOR TO USE ON THE FIELD! Generally, the only "pyro" we use (when we're not hosting an OP) are smoke grenades. If you wish to bring smoke or any other pyro, it must be approved by an SOG Command Member prior to using it on the field.
If you have any questions or concerns, please PM me or any other team member on the forum. Thank you!
